School Fundraising Ideas

It is really easy to have a Kids to Kids fundraiser at your school to raise funds to support Kids to Kids projects. Schools have everything you need, like teachers who can be adult advisors and kids who can become Kids to Kids Members and help you plan, organize and complete a successful fundraiser! Here are a couple of neat ideas that have worked really well at other schools:

Balloon-O-Grams

Basically, a balloon-o-gram is a telegram with balloons. Anyone can order a balloon-o-gram at anytime (parents can even order them for their kids and their friends). Once an order is placed, volunteers deliverer a bunch of balloons, a card and (if they don’t mind) sing a song for the receiver. This fundraiser can last for many months so that it includes several holidays (Valentine’s Day, Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, etc.).

Don’t like Balloons? Here’s a variation:
Use Lollipop Bouquets containing five lollipops: Charms, Tootsie Pops, DumDums, etc. instead of Balloons. Hold them together with a rubber band and even add tissue paper to make the lollipops look like flowers!

Dress Down Day

Do you go to a school where kids wear uniforms? How about an out-of-uniform day? Go to the Principal at your school and explain just why Kids to Kids is so awesome, and about how the whole school can get involved in raising money to sponsor a project! Check out our blog to read how a Kids to Kids Member from Rhode Island raised money for projects with a dress down day!

Penny Collection Drives

Penny Drives (or any other coin!) are a great way to raise money for Kids to Kids projects. Place large containers (for example, plastic bottles from water coolers – or, build your own!) in strategic and secure locations for students and faculty to place their pennies in. Add to your school collection by asking parents and family members to setup penny collection containers at their offices! When you’ve collected all the pennies you can find, talk to a local bank and see if they’ll come by and pick up the pennies and have them counted and rolled by machine. Cha-ching!

When you’ve finished raising money with your awesome fundraiser, send your contribution to Kids to Kids to support more projects.  If you write a blog about your fundraising experience, we’ll share it with other K2K Members.

If you have any other great school-based fundraising ideas, we’d love to add them to our list.
