Youth Advisory Board
Kids to Kids is all about kids connecting with and supporting other kids. We couldn't make any of that happen without our Youth Advisory Board, which includes the fabulous kids who founded Kids to Kids and several other rockstars!
Julia
My Name is Julia—I am 17 years old and a senior at a school in Groton, Massachusetts. I board there and play both soccer and squash. I love so many of the projects we have supported that it’s hard to pick a favorite but the ones that combine education, athletics, and arts are the ones I find to be the most lasting. For example, there have been a couple projects where the kids have painted a map of the world on the side of a school building—a project that is both educational and allows kids to be artistic. Kids to Kids is so amazing because it works to build long-lasting connections between kids in the United States and kids in the developing world. These connections shrink the distance between us, allowing kids in the United States to understand that kids all over the world enjoy the same things.
Emily
I am senior at Wayland High School. I really enjoy science and math classes I have taken, such as biology, chemistry, and pre-calculus. I have been part of Kids to Kids since it was founded and have been on two trips to the Dominican Republic. One of the projects the Wayland High School Kids to Kids Club has sponsored is a swim club in Belize. We have also had multiple fundraisers, including a jewelry fair. Kids to Kids is so important to me because I love connecting and helping other kids in the developing world. I love sponsoring projects and seeing the difference we make for these organizations. Also, it is great to make connections with kids from all over the world.
Sarah
My name is Sarah and I'm 16 years old. I'm in 10th grade at Wayland High School. I love playing soccer, playing music, and hanging out with my friends. I love all the projects we sponsor, but my favorite so far has been Art for Peace, which I thought was a very cool idea. I love kids to kids because it gives kids a chance to help other kids who really need it, at the same time as learning about and exchanging cultures. I love helping kids get the opportunity to do some of the stuff that I love most!
Amelia
I'm 16 years old and I'm a sophomore at Wayland High School. My favorite thing about school is all the art programs available at the school I attend, currently Fiber Arts. So far, my favorite project we've sponsored was Art for Peace, not only for my fondness of the concept, but because I believe art can truly help build communities and a respect for beauty some are not privileged enough to get in the developing world. I love Kids to Kids because I love the feeling you get knowing you're helping someone's life get a little better.
Charlie
My name is Charlie. I am 13 years old, in 8th grade, and go to the Wayland Middle School. My favorite thing about school is seeing my friends and learning new things. I have done fundraisers, collected supplies, and also gone to the Dominican Republic. I love Kids To Kids because I think it is important to help people and Kids to Kids is a fun way to do it.
Finn
My name is Finn and I am 13 years old. My favorite thing about school is Geography and meeting new people. My favorite project that we supported was all of the baseball teams that got to play with real baseballs and bats. I love Kids to Kids because of all the smiles it makes on kids faces everywhere.
Linc
My name is Linc and I am 11 years old. My favorite thing about school is all the community service opportunities that are available. I like all the Kids to Kids projects that involve libraries. My favorite thing about Kids to Kids is that it helps so many kids.
Genevieve
My name is Gen and I'm a senior at Wayland High School. I run track (both indoor and outdoor) for my school. I also work at a small children's store in Concord, MA and I love children. This is one of the reasons Kids to Kids is so important to me is because it focuses on the children and helps them realize their potential. I, along with Kids to Kids, believe that every kid has awesome potential and I believe it is our duty to help as many as we can realize it through sports, arts and education. It's also important to me that kids across the world know that we at Kids to Kids have their back and our goal is to connect and share with them in any way we can. All of us kids are going to be inheriting this world and making it our own so we all need to work together to make it the best it can be. Go kids!
Lizzy
Hi, I'm Lizzy and I'm 17 years old. I go to the Groton School which is a boarding school in Groton, MA. I really love to play squash, and I'm very involved with both the Christian Fellowship and Kids to Kids club at my school. My favorite Kids to Kids fundraiser that we've done was a bake sale. I love Kids to Kids because my favorite part is connecting with the kids and learning more about their lives. Kids to Kids has given me the opportunity to stay involved year round, helping kids with similar needs to the ones that I've met personally.
Gwen
Hi, my name is Gwen and I’m a senior at Wayland High School. In school I love foreign languages and learning how different people live around the world. I love working with kids and I babysit every day after school. My favorite thing about Kids to Kids is the incorporation of kids in all the decision making processes. Kids to Kids really emphasizes the idea that every kid is important and should have the opportunity to express themselves actively, artistically and intellectually. My favorite project that Kids to Kids has supported so far is the Survivor Camp in Costa Rica. I love Kids to Kids and all the projects we sponsor to help actively engage kids in developing countries with their communities.
Annie
Hi, my name is Annie and I’m 16 years old. I am a sophomore at Wayland High School, where I play soccer, lacrosse and possibly track this year. I love sports but I also love music. I am in a couple of band programs as well as the sports team at my school, and I know I am extremely fortunate to have these things. I have been helping out at Kids to Kids for about three years now and it has been an amazing experience. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities in my life and I feel no less than obliged to help others around the world experience these things that I love so much. The best part about being a member of Kids to Kids is hearing feedback from the projects that we fund and seeing the gratitude in all of the cards and reports that the children send back to us. It’s a great feeling to know you’ve changed somebody’s life.
Lauren
My name is Lauren and I am currently a sophomore at Bay View Academy in East Providence, Rhode Island. I started working with Kids to Kids when I was in eighth grade and ever since then I have come to love Kids to Kids more and more. I enjoy playing tennis, skiing, and playing the piano. In my opinion, Kids to Kids is an organization that strives to achieve its goals, lives up to its values and has a vision to change the world. I started a Kids to Kids Club at Bay View and all of the members are really focused on helping kids in the developing world. We try to do unique fundraisers and spread awareness of Kids to Kids throughout the school. There have been so many projects that Kids to Kids has sponsored, but my favorite Kids to Kids project would have to be Camp GLOW (Girls Leading Our World). This is a camp for girls that allows them to learn about themselves and make new friends. They are able to realize their full potential and realize that they are important in the world. I have met so many great people through Kids to Kids and have had the opportunity to learn that I can make a difference by the work that I do.
